Do you think that 5c per kWh is a fair rate for the power that solar PV owners feed back into the grid? The Hub Foundation, organisers of the MASH community solar bulk-buy, think that it is definitely NOT fair. The reason being that 5c per kWh does not reflect the true value to the network.
Tomorrow night in Bendigo there’s a chance to make your views heard to Government. A public forum arranged by the Essential Services Commission (ESC), the organisation tasked with the job of making recommendations to Government about the value of the FiT, will be held at the Bendigo Bank Theatre from 6.30pm to 8.30pm.
A representative from the Hub Foundation will be at the forum to represent the interests of MASH customers and solar users generally. Details below, provided by the ESC.
- Public forum: Wednesday 18 May, 2016
- Venue: Bendigo Bank Theatre, Bendigo
- Time: 6.30pm to 8.30pm
- Pre-register: Email DGInquiry@esc.vic.gov.au

The Essential Services Commission has proposed changes to the way payments are made to Victorians with solar panels and other forms of distributed generation.
The proposals form part of Commission’s Inquiry into the True Value of Distributed Generation. The Inquiry looks at the value of all types of small-scale distributed generation, including solar PV. It also examines the methodology for determining the payments that Victorians with solar panels receive for exporting their excess energy back into the grid. This includes examining Victoria’s Feed-in Tariff arrangements.
The Commission has released its draft report – The Energy Value of Distributed Generation – and is calling for submissions from interested parties.
As part of its consultation, the Commission will be holding a public forum in Bendigo this Wednesday 18 May 2016 at Bendigo Bank Theatre between 6:30pm and 8:30pm. We would appreciate it if people could pre-register by sending an email to DGInquiry@esc.vic.gov.au.
