The electricity retailer Powershop has agreed to be the principal sponsor of An Evening with Tim Flannery to be held at the Castlemaine Town Hall on Saturday 26th September.
Powershop has been judged to be the lowest cost and the greenest electricity retailer. According to a Essential Services Commission report “taking into account all available discounts, the lowest overall prices were most commonly available from Powershop.” On top of that Powershop also offsets all the emissions from your electricity purchases and has been an active supporter of the Renewable Energy Target. It is streets ahead of the Dirty 3: Origin, AGL and Energy Australia
Head of Powershop Australia to speak at the Flannery event
Powershop’s CEO, Ben Burge, will give a thought-provoking, five minute speech during the evening. Ben says he doesn’t care which retailer you choose, provided you choose one of those that support the Renewable Energy Target (RET), such as Powershop, Momentum or Diamond Energy. Ben has no love for the Dirty 3.
MASH results so far
By the end of September, MASH will have arranged for the installation of 300 solar systems in Mount Alexander Shire. This will lower the Shire’s emissions of CO2 by around 1,500 tonnes per year – that’s the equivalent of taking 294 cars off the road for a year – and save the householders in total around $200,000 per year. Not a bad result.
Moreover, we’re confident another 400 households will sign up by by mid to late 2016. By then, the Shire should be be the leader in Victoria, with 30% of homes generating bucket-loads of clean, cheap electricity.
MASH coming to Kyneton
Macedon Ranges folk can hear all about MASH at the Kyneton Mechanics Institute at two sessions, starting at 5pm and 7pm, on Wednesday 21st October. These sessions are both entertaining and informative. Definitely worth putting in the diary if you want to lower your power bills!
Thankyou
This is the last column in the Solar Matters series. The Midland Express is pleased to be a partner in the Foundation’s Mount Alexander Solar Homes (MASH) community bulk buy project and encourages its readers to be involved.
